Win 7 Defender

Posted by Goddyin Blog Rogue programs removal on July 28th, 2011 | 14 Comments

Win 7 Defender belongs to malware like XP Antivirus Pro that disguises itself as a normal program. Unlike other computer threats, it will not delete or damage system files. By hiding deeply in your system, Win 7 Defender aims to control your system completely. Win 7 Defender will act like a security program but all it detects are fake files. By displaying fake security alert, Win 7 Defender cheat users into purchasing the rogue software.

Though Win 7 Defender doesn’t damage system files, it is still very dangerous to keep it on your system, as it will open a backdoor for millions of virus and spyware which will steal your personal data, remove system files and expand system vulnerabilities. Do you have Win 7 Defender in your machine and do you get any of the following problems?
* Blue screen of death
* Networking failure
* Exe or dll error
* Lots of pop-ups and advertisements

How to remove Win 7 Defender manually
The process is the same as removing other viruses: kill related process – delete associated files – remove associated registry entries. As Win 7 Defender can automatically run at windows startup, the key of manual removal way lies in blocking the Trojan from running. If you do not remove the Trojan completely, it can recreate itself after restart.
1. Remove the following registry value

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClasses.exeshellopencommand “(Default)” = “%UserProfile%Local SettingsApplication Dataave.exe” /START “%1? %*
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassessecfileshellopencommand “(Default)” = “%UserProfile%Local SettingsApplication Dataave.exe” /START “%1? %*
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.exeshellopencommand “(Default)” = “%UserProfile%Local SettingsApplication Dataave.exe” /START “%1? %*
