Very Slow Responding on Accessing System

Symptoms:On entering the system while the computer starts up, nothing responds to the click until one minute about.

Solutions:
1. Please upgrade the virus database of your antivirus software, and then make a complete detection and remove any virus on your computer, so as to exclude the virus effect.

2. Start > Run, type msconfig > OK. On the System Configuration Utility popup window, please disable some unimportant Services and Startup programs. Then, Restart the computer.

3. Go to “My Computer” > Tools > Folder Options > View > Remove the tick before “Automatically search for network folders and printers”.

4. When Windows XP booting into desktop the system will be temporarily stagnant for some time, meanwhile nothing will response to start up any programs. This is because the DHCP Client service of Windows XP is distributing IP address for network card. To solve the problem, just go to right click “My Network Places” on desktop > Properties; on the Network Connections window, right click “Local Area Connection” icon > Properties > General; click “Internet Protocol (TCP / IP)” > Properties; select “Use the following IP address”; at “IP address” and “Subnet mask”, type “192.168.0.1” and “255.255.255.0” respectively, (Specific IP address based on your actual situation). Finally, click OK and exit the setting window. (LAN not applicable)

Start > Settings > Network Connections, right click “Local Area Connection” > Properties, if IP address is empty, click “Use the following IP address” to specify “IP address” and “Subnet mask”. For example, IP address can be set to 192.168.0.X (X for any value between 1-255) > OK > OK.

5. Clear the prefetch directory, enter the folder C: \ WINDOWS \ Prefetch, and delete all files that have the extension name pf. Then, please restart up the computer.

Further more, if your PC loads too many automatic startup programs when the system boots up, the symptoms mentioned above will also appear. You may please go to “C: \ Documents and Settings \ User Name \ Start Menu \ Programs \ Startup ” to properly delete some startup programs (delete all recommended).
