Windows XP may not run smoothly after a long time, and may also not respond to the operations on mouse and keyboard. It is at most time, the phenomenon of system false death. Different from real system death, a false death can be saved. The source of system false death is explorer.exe (The drive of the entire graphical interface). As it is false death, then there must be solutions to save system from false death.
1st solution:
When opening a new folder with Resource Manager, or opening a new browser page without response, you can use “Win D” or click the “Show the Desktop” button in Quick Launch bar, and then press F5 or right click to refresh the desktop. Usually, system will become normal again to restore the window of Resource Manager or browser after refreshing 3-5 times.
2nd solution:
This trick is very useful in dealing with most problems about system false death. When the Task Manager can not even open, please eject and then eject -t the CD-ROM (Do not put in a CD), and a small CD logo will appear beside the mouse pointer, which will raise the consciousness of the system. It is a time-tested solution!
3rd solution:
This is a weapon of last resort. Use the key combination “Ctrl+Alt+Del” to open Task Manager, and then end the process explorer.exe in the Processes tab. The whole desktop will remain wallpaper only, without desktop icons and task bar. Then please go to the menu bar of Task Manager: File > New Task > input “explorer.exe”, and your system will return to be normal again. This setting is also good to release memory resource.
Follow the method below can significantly avoid system false death:
Please do not use right click menu if possible, and try to use hot key such as F2 for Rename, F5 for Refresh, etc. It is better not to use visual effect in Windows MediaPlayer, for it always causes system freeze. If you indeed want to use visual effect, please try the “Particle” visual effect which hardly causes system freeze. Do not use software to manage your memory, as it always causes the system even slower. If you really want to release system resource, the best way is to logout the current user, and then re-login.
